Employers

Two reasons to bring Mom @ Work to your workplace:
  1. Employees who say they have a best friend at work are seven times more likely to be engaged in their work.   The social cohesiveness created by conversations that weren't at all work-related actually helped boost workplace productivity.  Gallup's research shows that to have a thriving day, people need six hours of social time. Few organizations would condone six hours of surfing Facebook on the company dime, but employers can promote Social Wellbeing and organizational goals through social activities -- such as mentoring programs and development opportunities -- that can produce important business results.  (Gallup Management Journal: http://gmj.gallup.com/content/139373/business-case-wellbeing.aspx)
  2. The cost of replacing an employee is not just replacing one salary for another.  The costs of replacing an employee include separation costs, replacement costs, training costs, and vacancy costs (the added costs/savings realized while the position is vacant).  Those costs add up and add up quickly.  (Center for Community and Ecomonic Development :  http://www.uwex.edu/ces/cced/economies/turn.cfm)
When an employee has a baby and goes on maternity leave, her work network changes.  While on maternity leave the daily contact she once had with people at work is, if not discontinued, is changed dramatically.  When she comes back to work after maternity leave she is not only dealing with the changes of having an infant, but the transitions that happen in the workplace as well.  Not one thing in a woman's life remains the same as it was before she had her child and this includes her relationships at work.  If she no longer has a connection with people at work, she is more likely to leave the organization.

Coming back to work after maternity leave can be very daunting and very lonely.  Mom @ Work provides support for women before they go on maternity leave and after they return to work through a mentor program and monthly events for working mothers.

Mom @ Work is not only a great benefit for your employees, but a great benefit your company as well.  When your employees are well taken care of, they will make sure your business is well taken care of.
